The writings here often reflect the work I do and the people I meet along the way, but I will disclaim that my opinions are not intended to represent those of my employer or any other organization I may be involved with – just me.

I work at the Open Source Lab with a fantastic group of people and love my job.  I’m a  big fan of open culture and like to share.  It’s in my job description and my nature too; what a happy coincidence.

I became especially interested in the adoption of open source in government after spending time working for state government and appreciate the challenges – and the opportunities – that are unique to government.  I met some great people along the way and know many are asked to do a lot with scarce resource in a challenging environment, so I’m particularly keen on helping public service professionals.  We created the Government Open Source Conference to create a forum for education and collaboration to that end.

I’ve also worked in the area of public policy.  Today my “open contribution” in this area is supporting the non-profit DemocracyLab.org project as a board member.  Check it out, it’s a great project.

Cheers,

Deb Bryant
